Corten steel is a foreign name for weathering steel, mainly used for economizer, air preheater, heat exchanger and evaporator working in high sulfur flue gas, used to resist condensation corrosion of sulfur flue gas, with excellent sulfur ion resistance, corrosion ability.

             Corten A chemical compostion mainly contains C (max 0.12%),Si (0.25-0.75%),Mn (0.2-0.5%),P(0.07-0.15%),S(max 0.03%),Cr(0.3-1.25%).Ni (max 0.65%),Cu(0.25-0.55%).

According to the chemical composition , Corten A is made from adding common steel to a small amount of Cu, Cr, P elements and so on, then making some special process. Thus its corrosion resistance is about 3 to 8 times higher than the common steel. Besides, Cu, Ni element makes the steel possessing the properties,such as tenacity, ductility,shaping,welding,cutting,abrasion,fatigue resistance.

For  corten A mechanical property, Corten A is made according to ASTM standard which with the yield strength of 355MPa and the tensile strength of 470-630MPa. Corten A weather-ability is about 3-8 times better than common steel, and painting property is 1.5-10 higher than common steel. Besides, corten A can be use under reduction,exposure or simplified painted.
